Fast and Slow Shutter Speed
First project of Term Two: Slow and Fast Shutter Speed
Select one of your images that show a fast shutter speed: Photo 2
Approximately what shutter speed did you use to freeze action? I used 1/500 of a second
What ISO and WB settings did you use? I used a white balance that is good for shooting inside of the building, this ISO was high, 6400
(If you were on a phone camera, make a logical guess)
What action did you freeze? (Describe). I froze him throwing up a scarf in the air, the fast shutter speed allowed for the scarf to look as if its frozen in the moment.
What was your distance, and point of view for the photo? This photo was about 7-8 feet away from the subject.
Describe any compositional elements (tools) that are present in or that strengthen the photo.(rule of thirds, positive and negative space, line, shape, pattern, texture, strong colors, repetition, contrast...) The strong color of the blue scarf really adds to the compositional element of the photo. This photo is a strong with color and movement.
Select one of your images that show a slow shutter speed: Photo 6
Approximately what shutter speed did you use to purposely blur action? I used a slow shutter speed for this photo, 1/15 of a second
What ISO and WB settings did you use? I used a white balance that is good for shooting inside of the building, this ISO was high, 6400
(If you were on a phone camera, make a logical guess)
What motion, or part of the image shows blur? (Describe). The motion that is described in this photo and that is blurry is Annie, she stood still and was the main focus of this picture.
What was your distance, and point of view for the photo? This photo was about 7-8 feet away from the subject.
Describe any compositional elements (tools) that are present in or that strengthen the photo.(rule of thirds, positive and negative space, line, shape, pattern, texture, strong colors, repetition, contrast… This photo follows the rule of thirds and also is a strong compositional element with it being black and white

Painting with Light
Reflection Questions:
Describe one of your photos from painting with light.
Every photo has its own story. This project allowed to see how many different combinations of images can be produced. One of my photos that I like the most is photo number 2. The colors are all over the place due to the adjustments I made with the hue. There is like two half circles as well as some cool coloration.
What shutter speed did you have the camera on?
I used a very slow shutter speed, about 3 or 4 seconds.
What light source did you use to create the painting?
We used the light sticks, very cool with lots of different colors.
How did you achieve the image/effect?
Moved the lights really fast and then the camera captures the image.
What impact does the photo have? How would the viewer feel looking at your photo?
A lot of emotions can come up from looking at this image. It has a lot of different colors and shapes to look at. It moves your eyes from one side to the other. The ability to see different aspects and have your own interpretations of the image. The viewer can see what they want to see.

APPERTURE
Reflection Questions:
Select one of your images that show a shallow depth of field.
Photo 3 shows a shallow depth of field
What f-stop did you have your camera set to create a shallow depth of field?
Most likely a shallow depth of field, f stop set at a lower number, around f/4
What ISO and WB settings did you use?
The ISO I used was medium ISO, I adjusted it a lot depending on the light. Some had a ISO of 400 and some of 1600.
Discuss one of your images that show a large depth of field.
My photo 1 shows are large depth of field. It really showed a lot of different things. There was not too much light but it also allowed for a shallow depth of field.
What f-stop did you have your camera set to create a large depth of field?
f/3
Which photo is better? Why?
I think photo 1 is the best because it captures art being done and shows the different shadows!
Why would you want to use a shallow depth of field?
To allow light and see all of an image
When/in what situation would a large depth of field be better?
When there is not that much light.
