Here is a selection of 6 photos from September, to April. These photos are all ones that I have selected that are my favorite and I feel like I have done my best job on. Enjoy!
Photo 1: Eyes of Light
Eyes of Light: featuring Isabel Charest:
This photo was taken during our portrait photoshoot during class. Isabel was an amazing model, she was able to express her personality through the poses and expressions she was doing. I had her position herself looking off into the distance, she was looking off to the left hand corner of the image. I love the dark background with the light reflecting on her face. The light is just hitting her face so perfect, the perfect blend of light and shadows framing her face. If you look into her eyes, you can see the light, " Eyes of light". She is looking off into the distance, she is looking for more, she has a hopeful look with a sassy smile. |
Photo 2: Motion with Light
This photo was taken during out “ Painting with light” series in school. We turned off all the lights in the Performing Arts Center, took out our bright light sticks, and started moving. Looking at this photo, the compositional element that is most apparent is the motion of the lights moving. We used a very slow shutter speed to capture the true motion of the lights, 1/100 of a second. I took this photo from further away, the subjects moving the light were up on the stage in the PAC. When editing this photo I photoshop to adjust the hue to make the lights have an appealing effect as well as changing the color of the light. The ISO we used was set at 200, a lower ISO. This is one of my favorite photos I have taken all year, it really shows a variation of colors and motion, I love this photo.

Photo 4: Moving in time
This photo was taken during our “ Fast and Slow Shutter Speed” Series. This was taken with a slow shutter speed during term 2. Wow.. can’t believe that I am writing this in the end of term 3. I used a white balance that is good for shooting inside of the building, this ISO was high, 6400. This was taken with a slow shutter speed, I used 1/15 of a second for this photo. I was close up taking this photo, I really tried to frame the image in the hallway, walking, an actual moment. The moment I really tried to capture was just the constant motion of high school, never stopping. Annie is taking the time to stop and stand still and let the world go around her. The motion that is described in this photo and that is blurry is Annie, she stood still and was the main focus of this picture. This photo follows the rule of thirds and also is a strong compositional element with it being black and white
Photo 5: Double Exposed
This photo was taken during the “ Portrait” series this year. It is the same photo of Isabel ( I just loved this photo so much) but it was edited while practicing the principle of Double Exposure. Double exposure is when two or more exposures to create a single image. In this photo I took the amazing portrait of Isabel and then took one of my photos from the “ Painting with light” series and put them together. I really love this photo not only because of the portrait, but because the painting with light photo really frames her face so nice. I did that by rotating my original image and framing it to her face.
Photo 6: The Barn
This photo was one that I included in my “ Favorite Thing” series this term. This photo is of the Ice Cream Barn, in Swansea, MA. This is where I work and where my favorite ice cream is form. I love this photo because of the dark wood and really cool vaulted ceilings. I also really love the lighting in this picture, how the light is coming down from the ceiling and how the ceiling is darker than the lower part of the photo.
